Remember that if you register in the forums, you arnt registered in the game. You would need to create an account with the "Create account" button when opening the game client.
If you have done that correctly, try turning off your firewall as you connect to akarra, it could be blocking it's port.
Let me know if your having frther trouble and I will try to help you more.

Once My Direct X needed to be reinstalled .. it was bad and screwed up my ability to connect to akarra .. try that too if all else fails.

hm I dunno thats a real pickle ... are you useing the setup program provided by this website .. an old version or another shards version won't work with this server .. as its connection settings are different.
Apoc can you post the connection info ?
if that doesnt work try reinstalling your display drivers .. and a last resort .. internet connection.

Nope, your connection speed doesnt really matter much. It only means you might lag slightly. the game doesnt require much to run, and I dont know what else might cause you to not be able to connect.

do you get the error message moments after clicking ok or immediately after clicking ok?

if you get it the moment you click it .. then theres something wrong on your computer .. that was happened to me..
If your getting a long delay .. it might be lagg or something. Hmm .. make sure all your fileshareing programs are closed.

Yes, that would be the case then. Do you use a firewall? It could be blocking port 17132
