The following is based on a true story. Based on a character before the characterwipe. I doubt things have changed.
Hmm.. so you decided to try for a neophyte class... You choose white soul colour because otherwise you won't get any offensive spells until the possible 90 lvl. So you've managed to lvl yourself with harm for up to the cleric lvl and begin wondering... "Hmm... what kind of skills/spells do I get now?"
You visit the forums and go to the "skill spoilers" -page, there you admire the long lists of spells/skills the fighters and mages get. After scrolling down, you see the short lists of *Defensive magic users* and see that you get Focus I, Revitalize, Cure Poison and Armor Of Faith. You think out loud: "I got Harm and Cure Wounds atm, I should get Focus I (that'll help my mp), Revitalize (wow! I heard this one's really useful), Cure Poison.... Hmm so far only a couple of enemies have had a poison effect on me but since there's a skill for curing poison there might be more of these poisoning enemies at higher lvls... and... Oh! Armor of Faith, I heard it gave you 55 ac with full gems on it, that sounds useful. Now all I need to do is raise some money that I can buy the skills... Piece of cake, I can solo at zatra's tomb now. All of those cursed oncin picks will give me enough money to get the skills I want."
After 2 weeks... "Now I've got 8 oncin picks. I'll just go sell them and buy me some skills..." Now you've got almost 4gc and head to Faith with a satisfied smile on your face. Halfway to Faith it hits you: 3 tornadodevils run after you and kill you. Gladly you took precaution and put your spawn point to dark waters. You pm a friend who then helps you get to Faith past the tornadodevils. You only lost a few sc so you think it won't matter much since you now have the most money you've ever seen. You reach Faith and rush quickly to Mezmear. To your amazement and dissapointment... Armor of faith costs a bit over 9gc(or was it a bit over 8gc... no matter). You now feel lucky to have bought revitalize while you were still at Hope. You now wonder: "Where on Earth will I get the missing 6gc?" Fortune is on your side because you have a friend who is rich, he gives you the missing 6gc and you go buy the skill.
You try to lvl at Faith beach when you start wondering: "Huh? I only hit below 50 dmg with harm and I have it maxed out with gems. It seems I need more cr in order to kill some of my own lvl monsters. I'll just take a look at the useful dukesapedia and see what could give me some cr." You search for different gear that you could afford or wield and you come across the enchanted rings... "Hmm... My friend gave me the craft for those, and the materials for it don't cost anything... dandy..." After searching for the required materials with your high lvl friend (you couldn't get the materials by yourself because you were just 29 lvl). You put the rings on and start smiling for a long time: "These rings give me a bit over 100 cr with my neophyte sickle. They doubled my cr instantly... Woohoo, now I can lvl in Faith beach!"
After a week you've reached lvl 50 from soloing a long time in Faith beach. You've wondered a bit which class you're going for at lvl 50, Naturalist or Healer but haven't put more thought into it. Now you decide that you want to become a Healer class. You push the "Change class" -button and confirm that you want to become a Healer but.... Something's wrong... You didn't become a Healer. You see a red text which says: "Unable to change class: Level 90 minimum". You're stunned. You don't want to be stuck at Cleric class until you're lvl 90 because you know you wont be able to lvl that high without some serious plvling or new better skills... So you choose naturalist and hope for the best.
So now you're a naturalist. You check which skills you're supposed to get at naturalist class from the "skill spoilers" -page: "Hmm... Focus II, Holy Might and Silence... I'll have no trouble getting those skill because I have a very good friend who happens to be rich." But unfortunately he has some money trouble too so you only ask him to buy you a few monk's gears instead. He buys you the boots and the helmet. You think in your mind: "Now I'll have enough cr to defeat some tuskians and earn the money for the skills by myself and maybe get some exp along the way."
You now face the tuskians one by one. You feel a bit lucky for the Harm-spell to be as fast as it is and for choosing a white soul color: "Phew. I'm glad I took white soul colour instead of the green one. I couldn't have gotten this far without harm because people seldom fs". You raise the money for the skills you desire and you go to buy them. You add your 1st few gems on the skills and see what their effects will be. You see that with each gem added into the Holy Might, you get more max dmg..."Wait. What do I need max dmg for? I can't let any monster at my lvl even touch me. It would be a ridiculous idea to attack a tuskian with the stats I have atm. My stats resemble a mage's more than a fighter's, I have more cr and my hp/ar/ac/dr/max & min dmg are way too low for close combat. It would make some sense if I could cast it on someone... well, one dud skill won't bring my motivation down, let's have a look at Silence. Hmm? Can't cast it to anyone else than myself...Argh! I drained my mp to -4000, resting through this is gonna take a long time." So now that you're dissappointed in both the skills you feel sour and think sarcastic thoughts: "Oh man these skills were a great help for me! Glad I used my precious time and money to buy me so useful spells. Now I can solo anywhere I want." The only useful spell you got was Focus II for reaching lvl 50, nothing more.
You start to wonder: "I should have taken the green soul color, I would have at least gotten Barkskin and eventually Entangle at lvl 90." But you don't know that those skills wouldn't help you any better than Harm (Barkskin only gives you below 30 damage reduction and Entangle won't help but to slow your enemies and by then you've got your 1st really good area spell anyway, so choosing green soul color would only burn your nerves).
You're about lvl 60. So now you get to the part where you knew you would require some fellowshipping in order to lvl more. You rarely find a decent fs partner to lvl with so you might only get a pair of aps in a week. Every second minute is moring boring than the last. You regret for ever creating a neophyte class and make a new character who is a mage or a fighter. You lvl them to the final class. Your 1st character is now only a side character which you lvl sometimes if you happen to be lucky enough to find a proper fs partner who happens to be the same lvl as your naturalist. But your fs partner can lvl any time he/she wants and so he/she passes the good fsing lvl in a matter of days by soloing. You use that kind of method every time you have a chance and you eventually get your naturalist to lvl 80, and after even more time, 90. You choose Druid -class and you have a happy smile that quickly passes.
You finally got to lvl 90 after long weeks and even months... But still you can't solo even with the help of Lightning storm or Holy lightning. So your Druid still remains as a side character you rarely use....
The moral of this story? Might have to do something on why it's in the "Complaints" -section. Just look at it and think what might be the moral of this story. I think you'll see it clearly.
